Lynn’s Top Picks on Where to Eat During LAAPFF

It’s Opening Night for the 2012 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival – and it looks like LYNN-sanity has taken over Tinseltown! In addition to our Saturday premiere of YES, WE’RE OPEN, Lynn Chen will be in full effect all weekend long with high profile appearances in the web series NICE GIRLS CREW, indie darling double feature SURROGATE VALENTINE and the sequel DAYLIGHT SAVINGS, as well as the documentary UPLOADED: THE ASIAN AMERICAN MOVEMENT.

So how does this actress-writer-producer-foodie-blogger-superwoman stay fueled in between screenings? In a recent blog for Privy Magazine, Lynn shares her top food picks in walking distance from the Director’s Guild of America:

  • Veggie Grill (8000 Sunset) – fast food vegan that will please even meat-eaters! Make sure to order the Sante Fe Crispy Chickin’ Sandwich, Buffalo Wings, Crab Cake, or All-Hail Kale Salad.
  • The Griddle Cafe (7916 Sunset) – pancakes the size of a small planet, stacked high on a plate. FYI – they are only open til 4pm, don’t take reservations, and there is usually a line.
  • The Counter (7919 Sunset) – customizable burgers – you can add anything from pineapple to ham. Skip the turkey burger (their hormone-free beef is where it’s at) and make sure to order their sweet potato fries.
  • Greenblatt’s Deli (8017 Sunset) – this Jewish Deli has been around since 1926, and is open til 2 a.m. year-round! Their pastrami sandwich is perfect, and they give you a huge bowl of pickles!
  • D’Yogurt (7988 Sunset) – Serve yourself Frozen Yogurt, with lots of flavors and toppings, ranging from fruit to cookie dough.

    • For those of you that have seen the film, you know that food – weird food, I love weird food! – plays a pretty important role in YWO. With our cast and crew coming out from NY and SF, and with our awesome SF appetites, we want to know your recommendations on where to get our grub on in Los Angeles!

    P.S. Ever since I moved to NY, I am definitely excited to eat AS MANY BURRITOS AND CARNE ASADA FRIES AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE. Also, In & Out. Maybe Norms. Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles. Perhaps Bon Chon – it’s better in K-town than West 32nd I think! And RAMEN that doesn’t cost me an arm and a leg!
